Islamabad – After a soft lauch in Murree Careem captains faced junky behaviour by local Taxi drivers.

Since the arrival of Careem in Murree — like anywhere else — the local taxi community has started protesting after Careem started it’s test service just before Eid-Ul-Fitar.

Having said that, the ride hailing services have also faced scrutiny from governmental authorities in Pakistan recently, especially as seen in the case of Careem and 3 other cab companies which were served a legal notice.

Situation went ugly when number of incidents were reported where Careem captains were literally beaten in Murree.

To tackle the situation legal team of Careem headed by Sibtain Naqvi held negotiations with Murree Taxi Union, The talks were facilitated by local PML-N leader Raja Daftar Abbasi, Asim Nawaz Abbasi, Raja Ahsan Safdar, Moeez Nasir & Saqib Raja. Legal team committed to address all the demands of local Taxi drivers & agreed to take them on board but the mutual agreement went null and void when drivers started protesting again right after the meeting.

Naqvi while talking to Capital Times said “we made every effort by involving locals to convince local taxi drivers but after reaching to a mutual agreement they back-stepped & now we have finally decided to go legal against Taxi Union and soon we’ll be launching in Murree officially”.
