Some regions enjoy sustained levels of peace, security and prosperity, while others fall into seemingly endless cycles of conflict and violence. This is by no means inevitable and must be addressed.”
The SDG 16 aim to significantly reduce all forms of violence, and work with governments and communities to find lasting solutions to conflict and insecurity. In this realm, the realization of SDG 16 that focuses on strengthening the rule of law and promoting peace and justice is integral to Pakistan’s development as a country. Pakistan has already signed memorandum of understanding with Open Government Partnership (OGP) in 2016 but have not submitted its National Action Plan for Open Government Partnership yet. Pakistan and the entire world has to accept the open government standards which falls under SDG 16 to achieve its targets at both national and international level. The thematic areas of SDG 6 mainly covers countering violent extremism and peace promotion, transparency, accountability, access to information and responsive public institutions, rule of law and access to justice, countering human trafficking and child abuse in Pakistan.
