Sitara-e-Imtiaz for climbing ace Abdul Jabbar Bhatti

ISLAMABAD; 24 March 2018 – Abdul Jabbar Bhatti (AJB) on Friday was conferred with Sitara-e-Imtiaz in an august ceremony held at Governor House Lahore.
Governor Punjab, Rafiq Rajwana conferred the award on Lt Col (Retd) Dr Abdul Jabbar Bhatti in a ceremony that was attended by many a civil and military dignitaries.
The medal for distinguished services in the field of mountaineering was announced on Independence Day August 14, 2017 by the President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and was awarded on March 23, 2018.
AJB earned this distinction hoisting the Pakistan flag on top of Everest the world highest peak in the Himalayas having an altitude of 8848 meters.
AJB is the fourth Pakistani and oldest climber in Pakistan at the age of 60 to scale the highest peak Everest, on May 21 at 11:34 am.
