ISLAMABAD—Uzma Yousaf a housewife and a climbing enthusiast is leading the way for Spantik 7027 meter peak on July 2.
She has climbed Rush Peak 5098 meters in February this year and prior to that’s she has climbed Mingling Sar 6050 meters.
Uzma will be the first Pakistani woman to climb a 7000er.
“Samina Baig is my inspiration as she has climbed Everest in 2015 and her fete has given me the courage to take this expedition,” said Uzma adding,” Col Jabbar Bhatti who recently climbed Everest this year is an icon and has offered me valuable information about the project I am undertaking.”
Umza has two children Sarosh Hadi and Hassan Hadi.
“I am now mentally free as they are old enough to look after themselves and I am very grateful that my husband Yousaf Akhtar supports me all the way.”
“I am off the opinion that women should come forward and participate in adventure sports,” said Uzma, who hopes to reach the summit in August.
Spantik is also called Golden Peak and is climbed frequently because it is in 7000er category and has a gentle slope that leads all the way to the summit.
